I couldn't get the transfer pak to work on the Mupen64 core at all with Pokemon Stadium 2 with either method even though both methods worked for Pokemon Stadium 1. If you want to use multiple transfer paks and/or want write-access to red and blue (not yellow) to use in Oak's Lab to organize your pokemon/items and transfer and trade between your games - use Project64 with the N-Rage plugin.ĮDIT 2: I did some testing with Pokemon Stadium 2. TLDR: If you want achievements or you just want read-only access to you gb games to use in battles (or you want to clone your pokemon), use Mupen64. This will allow you to use the same save across both emulators Doing so will require you to download pj64tosrm which is a command-line tool to allow to you to convert your Pokemon Stadium save file to/from the save file format for project64 and mupen64. So depending on what exactly you want to do in Pokemon Stadium, you may actually need to use both emulators. EDIT: there is apparently an emulator called RAP64 which is just Project64 with some extra stuff to allow you to connect it to RetroAchievements Mupen64 supports RetroAchievements while Project64 does not. Neither mupen64 or the N-Rage plugin allows you to use GB Tower (the gameboy emulator inside of pokemon stadium) This is one advantage that mupen64 has over the N-Rage plugin as Pokemon Yellow works perfectly fine in Oak's Lab on Mupen64 (well other than not being able to update/save your Pokemon Yellow file) While it recognizes the Pokemon Yellow save, all your boxed pokemon will be shown as glitch pokemon if you view them in Oak's Lab (party pokemon seem to stay intact (and possibly your currently selected box)). The N-Rage plugin doesn't seem to be fully compatible with Pokemon Yellow for some reason (Red and Blue work perfectly fine). Because of this, it seems you must you Project64 if you want to transfer the special gift pokemon from Stadium to your gb games. The N-Rage plugin for Project64 doesn't have this issue and saves/updates both the save file for Pokemon Stadium and the save files for the gameboy games (except Yellow). the mupen64 transfer pak system doesn't actually update/save the save files of the gameboy games it only updates the Pokemon Stadium save file (if you want, this can actually be used for cloning). you can however use multiple transfer paks with different roms/saves on the stand-alone Project64 emulator if you download the N-Rage Input Plugin V2 2.3c the mupen64 core doesn't seem to support multiple different save files even though it does allow you to use multiple TransferPaks (you can use the same save file & rom on multiple controllers if you need to for some reason) I have not tested Pokemon Stadium 2 at all): z64 listed: īoth ways work fine for the little I've tested, I prefer the renaming method, much quicker to set up IMO.Īdding to this conversation with my findings from the past few days as a reference to anyone who finds this thread in the future (Note that I only tested with Pokemon Stadium 1 with Red, Blue, and Yellow.
